Vitalik Buterin is Not A Fan Of Bitcoin SV (BSV)

Recent comments made on Twitter by Vitalik Buterin reveal that the Ethereum creator is not a fan of Bitcoin SV (BSV). In one tweet he calls the Bitcoin Cash hard fork a ‘pure dumpster fire.’ The revelation surfaced on Christmas day during an online debate with Tuur Demeester who is a crypto commentator and a businessman.

Bitcoin SV (BSV) Aims To Solve Scalability Issues

The discussion also saw Buterin touch on an issue that is always close to his heart, the proof-of-work versus the proof-of-stake debate. The two algorithms are used by crypto developers when they build their virtual assets.

It’s an issue that has consumed a lot of his time, and he has passionately advocated for the PoS algorithm which he believes is the best way for Ethereum as a network to scale.

When one Wolfgang Amadeus asked him about Bitcoin SV (BSV) and the fact that it had recently mined 65mb blocks meaning it was very scalable, he wrote:

“I have my disagreements with the Bitcoin roadmap, PoW, etc., but they’re trying to do something that’s genuinely cool tech. BSV is a pure dumpster fire.”

He went to express his hatred for the PoW in the discussion. At one point he declared that he no longer believed in the algorithm. However, he said that he was optimistic about the technology that was being developed.

Bitcoin SV (BSV) forked from Bitcoin Cash which had forked from the original Bitcoin. Even though it claims to be following in the original vision of Satoshi, Buterin doesn’t seem to be a fan. BSV main goal is to address scalability issues on the Bitcoin network by employing large block sizes.

However, it has not have had a smooth run even since forking on November 15.

Interestingly, Buterin is also not a fan of Craig Wright also. He has previously called him a fraud. Wright is one of the figures behind the BSV project and once claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto.

What’s your take on Buterin’s dislike for Bitcoin SV (BSV)? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
