Hacked KYC data collected from top exchanges for sale on the dark web

According to reports coming from CCN, a hacker is selling hacked KYC data on the dark web, data which the hacker claims to have collected from some of the cryptocurrency exchanges such as Poloniex, Binance, Bittrex and Bitfinex.

The hacker who identifies himself as ExploitDOT is currently selling hacked KYC data on the dark web collected from exchanges that require their clients to comply with KYC regulations.

The ad put up by the hacker is said to have been up and running since July 2018 and the hacked KYC data discloses personal information ranging from drivers licence, ID cards to passport data.

The hacker also claims this information obtained from the exchanges covers their clients across the world and they go on sale for as low as $10 per 100 documents.

He also offers a discount to those buying in bulk offering as low as $1 per 1,000 documents for orders over 25,000 documents and $2 per 1,000 documents for an order of 10,000 documents.

It is said that the hacker even has data of the victims with selfies holding up pieces of paper with words such as “Binance” having their faces and Identification documents visible.

A Binance spokesperson was also quoted saying the exchange has their “theories in regards to how this information may have been obtained” and added that there are no signs of anauthorized access to their system.

This revelation is coming just weeks after another cryptocurrency exchange, Cryptopia is said to have been hacked with millions in cryptocurrencies stolen from the exchange as reported by Cryptoline news.

It is however, up to discussion if the hacker has as much information as he cliams.
