BCH is a fork of Bitcoin core. Bitcoin core, as you may know, is the first cryptocurrency created by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008. BCH also was known as Bitcoin cash was launched in August of 2017.
According to the believers of BCH, it is the real Bitcoin Coin which Satoshi Nakamoto started working on in 2007. This thought is not only shared by the many bitcoin cash users who like every other cryptocurrency holders are emotionally attached to their coin but also shared by the bitcoin made millionaire Roger Ver who is also nicknamed the “Bitcoin Jesus”.
What is the problem with Bitcoin Core?
According to Roger and many other key players in the bitcoin world, bitcoin was not created as a store of value but a medium of exchange and looking at Bitcoin core now, it doesn’t represent what Satoshi was aiming to realize.
Also, Roger Ver and other big players in the Bitcoin space, think the transaction time of Bitcoin core is too long. They claim the transaction fees for bitcoin core have skyrocketed and believed Bitcoin Cash is here to overcome this problem.
Furthermore, they claim Bitcoin core has some mining hash rate problems.
Due to the above reasons among others, Bitcoin Cash saw a sharp increase in price in mid-November from about $600 to $2300 within a couple of hours before dumping and hovering around $1200. Bitcoin Cash also briefly overtook Ethereum as the second cryptocurrency according to coin market cap.
This has created some tension between the two communities and Roger Ver himself has moved a large portion of his Bitcoin core and invested Bitcoin Cash.
This war seems to be far from over though Bitcoin core has now hit new all-time high and is now over $8000.
