Bitrefill, a crypto gift card provider has added a service that will allow customers to book Airbnb rentals using five cryptocurrencies. This is according to an announcement that was made by the Sweden based company on Twitter yesterday.
According to Bitrefill’s website, the new service will allow users to pay for Airbnb gift cards in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin and DASH. However, as of now, the gift cards are only redeemable by residents based in the US using a US-based payment method.
However, the company said that the gift cards could only be applied for reservations that last less than 28 nights. Also, the users can buy the tickets in USD denominations of $25, $50 and $100. The firm will also offer mobile credit top-ups in crypto. The platform added that the Airbnb offering is a voucher product and it intends to provide customers with a voucher code and instructions on how to use it.
Bitrefill last week announced that it had added crypto support for Netflix subscriptions that is accessible using the five cryptocurrencies. It also offers cards for gaming, VOIP, travel services and more depending on where one is around the world.
Surprisingly, the company is an early adopter of the lightning network, a bitcoin scaling technology that is still in the experimental stage. At the start of this year, the company said that it aims to make BTC payments easy for its customers with its “Thor” service that allows users to share lightning channels with others with no setup on the receipts side.
Bitrefill conducted its first lightning network transaction back in 2017. At the time the company managed to top up a mobile phone at almost zero fees.
