The Event of the new year in Dubai
The Unlock Blockchain in Dubai, UAE, was a success. Bringing together insights, intelligence and information pertaining to the Blockchain sector. The event took place at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel this year by du from the Emirates integrated Telecommunications Company. There was a showcase of Blockchain solutions that alongside partners like Grape Technology, ConsenSys, miCity and Dhonor.
UNLOCK featured more than 56 global and regional speakers, in its second year, that included prominent blockchain names like Nick Spanos. Which is the CEO and founder of Blocktech and Zap.
The event featured a multitude of speakers including: H.E, Wesam Lootah, CEO of Smart Dubai Government, Osman Sultan, CEO of EITC, government officials from KSA Mohsen AI Zahrani, the Vice president of Strategy and Excellence Saudi payments (Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority).
Mr. Bart Brands, which is the president of the European Blockchain Foundation and Dr. Marwan AI Zarouni, Founder and chief Executive officer of Dubai Blockchain Center was also present, among others.
The Event was inaugurated by Mr. Sultan which addressed the events’s particpants keynote speech. According to a statement coming from Sultan, he mentioned that:
“As Blockchain technology matures in the region, the potential impact and value of this technology is showing real promise through its ability to transform our society and enrich the business climate. du is proud to be at the forefront of bringing blockchain initiatives into fruition within the UAE, and presenting key events such as UNLOCK is a key step towards encouraging all stakeholders to play a role in unlocking the next transformative phrase in the future of this disruptive technology.”
In October 2018 the du company announced that it would be developing the first Blockchain platform as a Service (BPaaS). This will be a cloud native Blockchain infrastructure that can provision private blockchain networks along with high levels of customisation. It will also be able to support multiple consensus algorithms with the monitoring and managing of Smart Contracts and will support multiple blockchain frameworks in the future.
There were also more than 20 blockchain startups that were showcased with solutions to the partners at the forum.
